Visit Boston with the #UVUPRCrew

The 2017 National PRSSA Conference will be held in Boston, the PR Hub of New England and dozens of global companies. UVU PRSSA students will have the opportunity to attend and participate in the largest international gathering of PR professionals from October 5 – 12, 2017. Approximately 16 UVU student financial grants have been provided to help reduce the expense for UVU PR students. You are invited to apply for one of approximately 16 spots (8 men, 8 women). Any student who wants to attend the National Conference, but is not selected for these 16 positions, may do so, however, they must make their own travel arrangements and cover their full expense (approx. $2,000).

At the conference, industry luminaries will share their expertise and teach the latest PR techniques being used in the industry. Conference presentations will include information about corporate and agency PR, as well as PR in travel and tourism, fashion, social media, sports and many other exciting areas. Students will also network and interview for job and internship opportunities available throughout the nation.

During fall semester, the selected students will be required to enroll in the 3- credit hour course: Comm 202R - Communication Field Experience. This course will prepare the students for this once in a lifetime opportunity.

$650 per student, plus money for food, transportation to/from the SLC airport. UVU funding is subsidizing more than half of the expense.

Due to the overwhelming interest expressed by students and limited funds, the following process will be used to determine who will be selected to fill the approximate 8 men and 8 women slots.

1. Submit a cover letter, resume, a writing sample of your choice, and official printed UVU transcript by 12 noon, Wed., March 8th at the front desk of the Communication Department (CB 502A). Cover letter must include the following items: year in school, anticipated graduation date, future career goals, why you should be selected, and a photo of yourself.

2. A committee of faculty/staff from the Communication Department will review, interview, select, and notify the approximate 8 men and 8 women by March 13. Interviews will be conducted March 9.

3. A $250 non-refundable deposit will be due May 1, 2017, a $200 non-refundable deposit will be due June 1, 2017, and a $200 non-refundable deposit will be due July 1, 2017.
