Jon Kovach - VP of Events

Jon Kovach Jr., 2015-2016 Vice President of Events, is a communication major with an emphasis in public relations at Utah Valley University.

Before transferring to UVU, Jon obtained his Associate's degree in business with an associate certificate in accounting.

Jon is passionately engaged with Utah Valley University's nationally acclaimed Public Relations program. He is a Dean's List scholar and widely considered one of the brightest minds in his talented class. He has taken top honors representing UVU in national competitions, conferences and assemblies. Jon previously worked with online outdoor gear and apparel retailer, Cotopaxi. He contributed to various public relations, marketing, social media and event management initiatives. Jon is a distinguished Tagalog speaker and has an exceptional background in developing materials used to teach and speak the language.

Jon Currently works for commercial real estate powerhouse Coldwell Banker Commercial Advisors in Salt Lake City as their Public Relations Intern. He loves his line of work.

In his free time, Jon enjoys roadtripping, camping, backpacking, and hiking with his wife in the national parks.

Responsibilities

  • Motivate members through my enthusiastic attitude toward PRSSA.

  • Coordinate all Chapter events.

  • Work with University organizations to secure:

    • Venue/Rooms

    • Catering/Food

    • Entertainment

    • Physical layout of the event

  • Plan and take care of the event details, including:

    • Fill out requests through Orgsync 3-4 weeks in advance through the club's’ office

    • Decorations and Event Aesthetics

    • Food (on or off campus)

    • Speaker gifts

    • Event assignments for committee members

    • Book guest speakers and coordinate all details for their media needs, getting their bios, water, etc.

  • Participate in all Chapter meetings and events.

  • And all other duties as assigned.
